Sony just announced a big wave of 35mm full frame mirrorless camera gear and one of the new full frame mirrorless system lenses, the 35mm f2.8 FE ZA Sonnar has a completed review waiting for you at Photo Review.
This new lens along with all the other new gear (a7, a7r, full frame primes, etc) are available for pre-order right now.
Obviously the lens of the Sony RX1R is glued to the Sony RX1R, but Dxomark put it through their lens testing and shared their findings, so you can see how it does compared to similar interchangeable lens camera lenses. Very useful if you are trying to decide whether to get the RX1R or just get another prime lens for your 35mm full frame DSLR.
These are lens reviews, but obviously the lenses cannot be unglued without damage to the mothership. Dxomark decided to send through their lens review testing scheme the lenses of the Sony RX100 Mark II and the Panasonic LF1. Obviously these are not a "canon" iLC lenses, but lenses they are and lens reviews they received :)
From a compact prime we go to a giant prime, the Sony 500mm f4G SSM SLR lens which challenged the Dxomark testing process enough that they had to use their new Seattle-dpreview lab in order to get it done. This is their report.
We are now catching up with all the Dxomark lens evaluations published the last couple of months. Since we don't have by-reviewer categories on this blog, we will post there in the "stream" instead of back-dating them since no one would be able to find them that away.
We start with an unusual lens review, unusual in that the lens cannot be unglued, but Dxomark run it through the paces reviewed and compared as a wide angle lens. We are talking about the lens glued to the Sony RX1, which is a 35mm f2 T* Carl Zeiss Sonnar. Here is what Dxomark found out.
